Lake Pedder Anglers Club

Congratulations to Dylan Loh on winning the
Heaviest Fish at Back to Pedder 2013
Lake Pedder Anglers Club is located in Tasmania's Southwest National Park.
Tasmania is the island state of Australia.
Our home base is the Lake Pedder Chalet where club memorabilia and records are on display.
In July 1976 the Strathgordon Licensed Anglers Association was formed by Hydro Electric families living at Strathgordon.
Lake Pedder is a Hydro Electric Scheme Impoundment.
In 1991 the club was renamed the Lake Pedder Anglers Club and in 2011 it became incorporated.
Today Lake Pedder Anglers Club is run by a committee spread across the state and we remain one of the most active trout fishing clubs in Tasmania.

We are a family friendy club with many fourth generation families amongst the membership.
Our membership of over 140 people is spread across Australia and has a cross section of ages from juniors through to seniors.
The club aims to promote angling at Lake Pedder and in the South West Wilderness area.
Our key focus for many years has been to promote the benefits of fishing and nurture an interest in fishing amongst our children and junior competitors at events.

Since 1978 the club has hosted a competition each January during the Australia Day week.
The Back to Pedder Competition as it became known is now the Largest Freshwater Angling Event in Tasmania.  This event is open to the public and people travel from around Australia each year to catch one of the famous Pedder trout.  The event is held over 4 - 5 days depending on where the public holiday falls.
Other clubs participate in this event each year competing in the interclub challenge held over the competition days.

Two other club only competitions are held each year at Lake Pedder; during the June Long weekend and in September (commencing  in 2013).
In 2013 we plan to hold 3 events a year at our club pond that is currently being established near Ouse
Club members also enjoy catching up with each other to fish at events throughout the state each year.

New members are very welcome to come along to our committee meetings and club events.
If your new to angling, our club members are very supportive and happy to teach you the finer art of trout fishing.
Our members practice all the different methods of trout fishing and many compete in other angling competitions throughout the year.

The club newsletter titled The Southwest Bulletin is published four times a year.

For many years the club has been very supportive of charities and actively fundraises through a charity auction held during the Back to Pedder Competition
